Join us today, November 5, from 5-7 pm for Northwestern’s Rachel Riedl, as she presents her paper, “Organizational Homogeneity, Cross-National Variation, and Institutional Stasis in African Political Party Systems.” This workshop will be a joint presentation with Northwestern University’s Workshop in Comparative-Historical Social Science, with two discussants, one from each workshop. Jose Antonio Hernandez will represent the Chicago side.
The workshop will be held at the U of C’s Gleacher Center, which is just a short walk from the 6 stop on Wacker. It’s also accessible from the Red Line. We’ll be in Lounge 320, overlooking the Chicago river and the sunset – hope to see you there!

Join us tonight for our first student presenter of the year. Third-year Jaira Harrington is coming to present her MA thesis, “An Interrogation of the ‘Domestic:’ Domestic Work, Political Subjectivity, and Maria da Penha Law in Brazil.”
This workshop is a joint presentation with the Latin American History workshop, and Jay Sosa, a student in the Anthropology Department, will be serving as discussant! Should be a lot of fun and a good opportunity for Latin Americanists in comparative politics to meet students and faculty with similar interests.
