This FRIDAY: Julia Adams at Gleacher, 6 pm

Please join us for our last U of C-Northwestern joint workshop of the year, this Friday, April 29, at 6 pm (light refreshments will be served beginning at 5 pm). Our presenter will be Yale University’s Julia Adams, whose paper is entitled “Why No ‘Sovereignty’ in Sociology? Disciplinary History and Imperial Crisis.” Diana Kim, former workshop coordinator, has kindly agreed to be our discussant.

The workshop will be held in Lounge 420 (that’s one floor up from the usual room). Directions to Gleacher can be found at www.gleachercenter.com. The 6 bus is the easiest route from campus.

This Week at CPW: Edmund Malesky on Transparency in Vietnam

Join us this Wednesday to welcome UCSD professor Edmund Malesky to the Workshop. He’ll be presenting a paper entitled, “The Adverse Effects of Sunshine: Evidence from a Field Experiment on Legislative Transparency in an Authoritarian Assembly.” Barnard Choi will be our discussant.
