Schedule for Autumn ’10

JST_HB Workshoppers,

Welcome back to a new and exciting year in the Jewish Studies and the Hebrew Bible Workshop.  Below is our schedule thus far for the Autumn quarter of ’10.

Oct. 11 – Ben Thomas, PhD Candidate in NELC at the University of Chicago, presenting on “A Story of Silence: Deuteronomism and the Prophecy of Jonah in the Book of Kings.”

Oct. 18 – Prof. Saul Olyan, Samuel Ungerleider Jr. Professor of Judaic Studies and Professor of Religious Studies at Brown University will be presenting on “Family Religion in Israel and the Wider Levant of First Millennium B.C.” – Event CANCELED

Nov. 1 – Anne Knafl, PhD Candidate in Hebrew Bible at the Divinity School, University of Chicago, will be presenting a chapter of her dissertation entitled “Divine Anthropomorphism and the Theophanies at Bethel (Gen 28:10-22; 35:1-15).”

Nov. 8 – Los Angeles Times Best Selling Author David Sax will be giving a talk about his James Beard Award winning book Save The Deli: In Search of Perfect Pastrami, Crusty Rye, and the Heart of Jewish Delicatessen.

Nov. 22nd – Prof. Peter Dembowski, Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of French Literature, will be presenting on his book Christians in the Warsaw Ghetto.
