Welcome back to a new and exciting year!  Below, please find the schedule for the Fall quarter ’11.  This year we’ll be meeting on Mondays, bi-monthly, at, our new time, noon, unless otherwise stated, in room 200 of Swift Hall.

Oct. 3rd: Dr. Michael Brenner, Professor of Jewish History and Culture at the University of Munich, also the International Vice-President of the Leo Baeck Institute and a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, will be speaking on Estranged Home: The Return of Jewish Emigrants to Postwar Germany.  This event will take place in the Classics building, rm 110, @4:30-6:30.

Oct. 10th: Dr. Allan Nadler, Professor and Director of Jewish Studies at Drew University, will be speaking on Heresy in Classical Judaism.  This event will take place at noon in Swift Hall, rm 200.

Oct. 24: Sara Hirschhorn, PhD Candidate in the department of History at the University of Chicago, will be presenting a chapter of her dissertation, titled Raishit Geula: Rabbi Shlomo Riskin’s Jewish American Garin and the Making of Efrat, 1973-1987.  This event will take place at noon in Swift Hall, rm 200.

Oct. 31: Dr. Mira Balberg, Assistant Professor of Religion in the Department of Religious Studies at Northwestern University, will be presenting on Pricing Persons: Consecration, Compensation and Individuality in the Mishnah.  This event will take place at noon in Swift Hall, rm 200.

Nov. 14: Rick Moreno, PhD Student in the History of Judaism at the University of Chicago Divinity School, will be presenting on TBD.  This event will take place in Swift Hall, rm 200.

Nov. 28: Sam Brody, PhD Candidate in the History of Judaism at the University of Chicago Divinity School, will be presenting a chapter of his dissertation entitled From Political Theology to Theo-Politics: Martin Buber’s Anarchistic Inversion of Carl Schmitt.  This event will take place in Swift Hall, rm 200.
