Schola Antique- June 1, 2007 (TBA)
Schola Antiqua of Chicago is the city's premier organization
dedicated to the study and performance of western liturgical
chant and early polyphony dating from the ninth through
fifteenth centuries. Since its inception in 2000, the
ensemble has performed its own editions of sacred and secular
music of the Middle Ages at numerous venues around the Chicago
area. Under the direction of esteemed medieval musicologist
Calvin M. Bower from Notre Dame, the organization promotes an
understanding of early liturgical music through its
performances, research, and education concerning this
significant body of musical repertory through innovative
programming and publications. Schola Antiqua are
artists-in-residence at the University of Chicago.
