Monday, April 2, 3-4:30pm: “Caesura in/of esthetic perception: The tragic moment in postdramatic theatre”

Hans-Thies Lehmann is Professor Emeritus of Theater Studies at the JW Goethe-University in Frankfurt, Germany and author of the seminal study on contemporary performance, “Post-Dramatic Theater,” which has been translated into ten languages.  Professor Lehmann is also the author of “Contributions to the Materialist Theory of Literature” and “Theater and Myth,” as well as influential essays on authors such as Bertolt Brecht, Heiner Müller, Georg Büchner, and Georges Bataille.  His appearance at the Theater & Performance Studies Workshop is made possible by the generous support of the Center for Interdisciplinary on German Literature and Culture.
