Spring has finally sprung and we are in the final quarter of the academic year, for those of us who are still tracking our progress that way.  Congratulations to our advanced students who have received approval to enter the dissertation writing phase!

We have some exciting and diverse papers to explore this quarter.  Please refer to the “Schedule” tab for an overview of what is in store for us.  Mark your calendars for the workshop on May 5, when we will have a joint session with Global Christianities and welcome guest speaker Paul Lim from Vanderbilt University.  He will speak on “Global Evangelicals and the Fight against Human Trafficking: Snapshots from India, Korea and the US.”   You won’t want to miss special event!

Next week Michele Ferris presents her paper, “The Chinese Presence in the Contested Space of Salt Lake City’s Commercial District, 1870-1952,” in preparation for the grad conference at our Div School on April 15-16.  (I hope you have that conference on your calendar, as well.  The theme is “Religion and Movement.”)  Please join us next Thursday to offer feedback on Michele’s paper and enjoy a catered lunch, as usual.

See you at the Marty Center, 2nd floor of Swift Hall, 12:00-1:15.
